Welcome! I've never made a website before, so this will be a work in progress as I learn the ropes, but I'm excited to see where it ends up!
Exploring Radio Shows and Podcasts to Create a More Intentional Algorithm
I've gotten so frustrated with social media. Lately, the first thing I see when I open Facebook is an argument of some kind, often local. "Would you like to join?" "No, I just wanted to check the start time of an event today." I close out of the app and I realize that 20 minutes has gone by and I still don't know what time the event starts. I'm tired of paying the Meta tax, so I try to limit how much I get on there.
Music-I love listening to music (who doesn't). It's also a lot of fun discovering new bands. I mostly find them through radio shows or Bandcamp. I also play bass and sing in a band. I've tried my hand at songwriting, but I'm not very good at it.
Video Games-I got hooked on Diablo II again. I bought the new Reign of the Warlock expansion and goofed when I was porting my existing characters to the new expansion. I had to level up my druid to carry more gold over, but then I just kept going. I just reached Hell difficulty playing a Summoner/Fury hybrid. I'd also like to play Subnautica 2 someday, but it's not worth upgrading my computer just for that.
I'm learning Spanish for my job. It's going a lot slower than I thought it would, but every day I make a little progress. I'm using Duolingo at the moment, but I feel like the app has gone downhill. My goal is to finish the course before the end of the year. That's approximately 855 units in 7 months.
Tracks From My Favorite Releases This Year
Mod Lang-Borrowed Time Detroit, MI
I had a feeling this album would be good, but I didn't think it would be THIS good. They've really nailed the classic power pop sound, with catchy riffs and harmonies that beg you to sing along! It was a tough choice, but I went with the opening track.
Lithia-Pink Houses Chicago, IL
This is another great album this year! The singles drew me in and I couldn't wait for the album to release. I love that showgaze sound, and the singer's haunting voice captivates me. It took a little time for me to warm up to some of the other tracks, but each of them fit into their position on the album. I chose Self Isolation as my favorite track. I love how they play with the energy levels on this one. It's a ride!
