Welcome! I've never made a website before, so this will be a work in progress as I learn the ropes, but I'm excited to see where it ends up!
I've gotten so frustrated with social media. Lately, the first thing I see when I open Facebook is an argument of some kind, often local. "Would you like to join?" "No, I just wanted to check the start time of an event today." I close out of the app and I realize that 20 minutes has gone by and I still don't know what time the event starts. I'm tired of paying the Meta tax, so I try to limit how much I get on there.
Also, just yesterday, my phone said it ran out of space. I looked into it, and Facebook was using 8 GB of storage space. That's the same size as Portal 2 (Messenger is using almost another gigabyte)! It's supposedly doing this to reduce lag when the app is in use. I wonder if that's why a lot of the posts seem outdated. I'm always saying "I wish I saw this yesterday." Also, I wonder if it was contributing to my phone feeling slower if it was constantly pulling content in the background.
I had a feeling this album would be good, but I didn't think it would be THIS good. They've really nailed the classic power pop sound, with catchy riffs and harmonies that beg you to sing along! It was a tough choice, but I went with the opening track.
This is another great album this year! The singles drew me in and I couldn't wait for the album to release. I love that showgaze sound, and the singer's haunting voice captivates me. It took a little time for me to warm up to some of the other tracks, but each of them fit into their position on the album. I chose Self Isolation as my favorite track. I love how they play with the energy levels on this one. It's a ride!
Sungaze's latest two albums have been heavier, but it's also worth checking out their first two albums. They still had a shoegaze sound, but mixed with something folkier. The combination of the two is rather unique. I recommend checking out "Look Away" and "Body in the Mirror," both off their second album.
Another notable thing about this band is that the vocal duties are split between husband and wife Ian and Ivory. Some tracks will exclusively feature one singer or the other, some have them trading off sections, and others are in harmony. With each singer comes a different perspective, so it adds some variety to the band.
A cool thing about this album in particular is that they released a magazine issue as a supplement to the album. I haven't read the whole thing yet, but it's pretty cool so far.
Is it a long EP or a short album? Idk, but it's really good tho. I think the violin adds a different dimension to their sound. Of course, the track I picked doesn't feature the violin...You'll have to take my word for it.
